393 Days — Part 6 of 6

The Landing

·1 min read

After more than a year, the job search was finally over.

The first offer broke the drought.

The second made it clear the long stretch of uncertainty was ending.

The third one was different.

The role, the people, the timing — it all lined up.

I accepted.

A few days later, I started at Cross River.

The first day was long. Exciting. A little scary.
At one point I noticed a banner with one of the bank’s values: Humility.

After everything the past year had put me through, that word landed differently — a quiet confirmation that I had made the right decision.

That night, back home, the badge and laptop were sitting on the table next to the company swag from my first day.

I looked at them for a moment and thought about everything that had happened over the past year.

It had all started with an unexpected 8:00 a.m. call.

Now I was home.
